One of the popular instant messaging platforms, Telegram is pulled down by Apple from the App Store citing ‘Inappropriate Content’ as the reason. While there’s no official announcement from Telegram or Apple, users across the world started noticing the absence of the application from the App Store. And the removal of the app from the Store is confirmed by Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov, who replied to a Twitter user about the same.
“We were alerted by Apple that inappropriate content was made available to our users and both apps were taken off the App Store. Once we have protections in place we expect the apps to be back on the App Store,” Durov tweeted. While the Telegram App on App Store is removed, it is available in the Google Play Store.
When it comes to App Store guidelines, Apple is far ahead of Google, and it won’t accept any upsetting or offensive content to be published on the platform. Hopefully, the removal won’t be a long one, and the Telegram app should be up and running on App Store at the earliest. However, the company’s did not reveal ant estimated time for the comeback though.
In other news, Telegram yesterday announced a new and faster version of the Telegram, dubbed as Telegram X. The new app is an experimental one and may or may not replace the existing official application. Telegram released the Telegram X app for both Android and iOS platforms.
The Telegram X application, as per Telegram will be faster and faster more battery-efficient than the original app, and it also comes with a sleek new design. Features such as the bubble-free mode for chats, tap and hold on any chat to preview a message content, redesigned music player & attachment menu, and optimised profile pages are some of the highlights of the Telegram X application.
