The MacBook Pro (2021) has launched today. At the same event, Apple also announced the AirPods 3 and HomePod Mini. The MacBook Pro 2021 comes in 14-inch and 16-inch options and they are powered by the all-new M1 Pro and M1 Max chip.
These chipsets are upgraded versions of the M1 chip that powers devices like MacBook Air (2020), 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020), iMac (202), and iPad Pro 2021. The M1 Pro is a 10-core CPU featuring 8 high-performance cores, 2 high-efficiency cores, 16-core GPU, up to 32GB of unified memory, and 200GB/s memory bandwidth, and a ProRes accelerator. On the other hand, the M1 Max features the same 10-core processor, 32-core GPU, up to 64GB of unified memory, and 400GB/s memory bandwidth, and two ProRes accelerators.

The Apple MacBook Pro (2021) comes in 14.2-inch and a 16-inch display sizes. The former has a thickness of 15.5mm and weighs only 3.5 pounds, whereas the 16-inch model is 16.8 thin and weighs 4.7 pounds.
The MacBook Pro (2021) is equipped with a Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED backlight display that produces 1bn colours, 1600 nits of peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. As can be seen in the images, the MacBook Pro (2021)’s top bezel features a camera notch, which houses a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a three-mic array. The 14-inch and 16-inch models are both available in M1 Pro and M1 Max chipset options. It runs on the latest macOS Monterey. The MacBook Pro (2021) comes with up to 64GB of RAM and up to 8TB of storage.
The MacBook Pro 2021’s keyboard does not feature the Touch Bar which was introduced on MacBook Pro models back in 2016. It has been replaced by physical function keys. On the connectivity front, the new MacBook Pros are equipped with three Thunderbolt ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card reader, a MagSafe 3 connector, a 3.5mm audio jack, and up to three Pro Display XDRs Both models are fitted with a 6-speaker system, which consists of tweeters and woofers. For wireless connectivity, the new MacBook Pro models support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro (2021) with the M1 Pro chip starts at Rs 194,900, whereas the 16-inch model starts at Rs 239,900 with the M1 Pro chip and Rs 329,900 with the M1 Max chip. Both devices can be purchased in Silver and Space Gray colours. As per Apple’s online store, the new MacBook Pros start shipping in 7-10 business days.
