WhatsApp rolls out three new features

Users can react to messages with emojis in both individual and group chats. The feature is similar to Facebook Messenger and Instagram DM as well as rival platforms like Telegram, Apple’s iMessage, and Slack. With emoji reactions, users can express their feelings and emotions about particular messages without sending responses or a separate emoji text. To add a reaction, users need to long-press on a message and then tap to select from the displayed emojis. The recipient will get a notification if a user reacts to their message.

WhatsApp says that only one reaction can be added per message. Users can also change or remove their reaction by long-pressing on a message they reacted.

As for the file size limit, it has been expanded to 2GB from the existing 100MB. However, it is limited to documents including PDFs and not media files like images, videos, and voice messages. The increased file size limit is applicable for both individual and group chats.

Additionally, WhatsApp is also expanding the default maximum size of groups to 512 members. This means that groups will now have more members. The feature is gradually rolling out to users.
